Swimming lessons

Swimming lessons are about over, just one week left and we are sad about this. Myles has the most amazing teacher, she is so good at what she does. Myles has learned so much, most importantly though, being comfortable in water. It's been a lot of fun for Jay and I too. Tuesday's, I hop in the water with Myles, Thursday's is Jay's day, each of us having so much fun.
At the beginning of each class, the kids pick their own water toy to throw and kick and paddle to.

Here's Myles kicking and paddling to get his toy.
Working on blowing bubbles.

Next up, kicking while chewing on his water toy.

Jay, Myles and his teacher as Myles shows off his moves.
New for the day, jumping in the water.

At the start and end of each class, the group forms a circle and sings a song. First is the hoki pokie, at the end is "I'm a little pancake," to the tune of " I'm a little teapot." At the end of the song, flipping the children from back to stomach as if flipping the pancake. We just love it.
If Myles finishes class and was a good boy, we head to the kids swimming pool. He is in love with the buckets and dragon slide. Good job buddy, what a fun first year of lessons.

Dancing Zorba

We spent the evening at the Goddess Fest last night and had an amazing time. Strolling through booths and checking out all of the interesting items. A friend of ours was singing in her band, which was the highlight of the night. Myles loved the music, dancing, running around and acting a fool. What a beautiful weekend!

Myles is now heading into his third week of swimming lessons. The first week, blah, he thought the water was too cold, he only wanted to go down the "dragon slide", and began to say "get out," after 20 minutes or so. We didn't want to force him to like it, after all, the swimming teacher said the first year is about being comfortable in water and having fun. We decided to give it one more week and see if thing's change, also with a little bit of tweaking. Myles was at daycare on swimming lesson day's, maybe he was just too tired chasing his buddies around all day. We changed our schedule's around and wallah, it was magic.

Myles now dunks his head under the water, while blowing bubbles, belly laughing as he emerges from the water. He paddles and kicks, chasing the duck water toy they give each child. His favorite part of lessons though, would be the high five his teacher asks for at the end of class. I think this boy's got a crush!

Rolie Polie jig

Myles continues to just dig "Rolie Polie Olie" and here is proof. His favorite part is naughty "Gloomius Maximus" singing and dancing his song.

Eeny, meeny, miny, moe

What does a 2 year old boy choose to take to bed with him you ask?

You guessed it, 2 crayons and an egg from his play kitchen. Most of the nights Myles is content snuggling with his bears in his crib. A few nights though, he insists on adding to his slumber party.
Myles has always been a fantastic sleeper. When it's time for bed, he helps put his toys away, gives us hugs and kisses, smiling as we lye him down. He enjoys going to bed at night. After stars from his constellation turtle are on, Myles will either work on his English (jib jab), or use the mattress as his own mini trampoline, jumping away until he falls asleep.

Good night Myles.

Myles was invited to a birthday party last weekend. A gigantic water slide set up with kids flailing with excitement.
Myles was more engulfed in this big wheel instead.
He did end up going down a few times, Jay included, and we all had a blast. I love this picture, Myles waiting patiently for a piece of cake.
Patience no more. Myles couldn't wait for a spoon, so instead he began to just dive in.
We love birthday parties!

4th of July 2011

We spent the day with our dear friends, listening to live music, eating delicious food and just being foot loose and fancy free. What a fun day!

Myles best est friend and cousin, Bradi and Clara

Too bad our camera battery had died right at the beginning of fireworks. Let me tell ya, Kuna knows how to celebrate the fourth. Fireworks which I would say, the cops would frown down on were lighting up the sky the entire night. Around 9pm, before all of the shenanigans, we saw all of the neighbors lining up their lawn chairs in the yard. Hmmm, what could this mean, we ask? This was a sign of what was to come, holy cow. We grabbed Myles wagon, tromping up and down the street. The best fourth of July ever!

Jay's mom took some pictures of us, and oh, what fun it was!

And the malling begins.
Just your regular classic picture, I say.

Myles first official hair cut

Myles is now sporting a new hair cut, thanks to Monkey Dooz! I have been doing my own personal trim job, and it just isn't cutt'n it. Baaahaaaa, sorry, a little cheesy. Anyhoo, Myles and Dad got a haircut together, which turned out to be an amazing experience. The girls at Monkey Dooz were just fantastic. Myles was a bit hesitant, wanting to play, not get all jazzed up, but the minute the stylist handed Myles the squirt bottle, it was free sailing. Myles squirted himself over and over again in the face, everyone laughing, including Myles. What a show.
